Reference solution & best practice – mounting

1. Overview

This document provides the optimal reference mounting design solution for the camera, assisting customers in swiftly implementing it during the product deployment process.

-24 Pin USB Type-C interface

  1. The 24 Pin USB Type-C interface is at the left of the camera,the depth of Type-C Female is specified as 6.0±0.2mm. please pay attention to the dimension of Type-C Plug to avoid interference, and secures adequate contact during the insertion of the Type-C plug.
  2. The metal exposed section’s length of Type-C Plug:
  3. length of 6.0± 0.2mm is suggested for Type-C plug with screw
  4. length of 6.2±0.2mm is recommended for Type-C plug without screw

-8 Pin Sync Port :

The 8 Pin sync port On the right side of the camera, rotate the Sync Port cover to see the Sync Port.

 

2.5  Mounting and Fixing Method for Gemini 335/336:

Option A:  Fix the 3D camera  using the 1/4-20 UNC thread hole, the hole depth is 5mm and commended torque is 4.0Nm

Option B: Fix the 3D camera using two M3 thread holes on the rear side,the hole depth is 3.0mm and commended is 0.4Nm

Option C: Fix the 3D Camera  using the shape or edges of the metal housing

 

[Note]]:

  1. 1/4-20 UNC threaded hole or other areas on metal parts of module must be utilized for grounding purposes.
  2. After the module is assembled to the whole machine, the FOV viewing angle cannot be blocked;

-24 Pin USB Type-C interface

  1. The 24 Pin USB Type-C interface is at the bottom of the camera,the depth of Type-C Female is specified as 6.0±0.2mm. please pay attention to the dimension of Type-C Plug to avoid interference, and secures adequate contact during the insertion of the Type-C plug.
  2. The metal exposed section’s length of Type-C Plug:
  3. a length of 6.0± 0.2mm is suggested for Type-C plug with screw
  4. a length of 6.2±0.2mm is recommended for Type-C plug without screw

-8 Pin Sync Port :

The 8 Pin sync port at the top side of the camera, remove the Sync Port protective cover to see the Sync Port.

 

3.5 Mounting and Fixing Method for Gemini 335L/336L

Option A:  Fix the 3D camera  using the 1/4-20 UNC thread hole, the hole depth is 8mm and commended torque is 4.0Nm

Option B: Fix the 3D camera using two M4 thread holes on the rear side,the hole depth is 3.0mm and commended is 0.4Nm

Option C: Fix the 3D Camera  using the shape or edges of the metal housing

  2. After the module is assembled to the whole machine, it cannot block the FOV perspective;

 

4. System design requirements:

  1. Sealing Requirements
    • Use foam padding or silicone seals between the 3D camera and the customer’s device to prevent dust.
  2. Lens Requirements
    • No additional lenses or covers can be added to the front of the 3D camera.
  3. Cooling Requirements
    • Connect the 3D camera to external metal components using thermal conductive materials to expand the cooling area. It is recommended to incorporate active cooling with fans.
    • The 3D cameras must not be heated by other heat sources.
  4. Before customer tooling, please provide structural drawings related to the 3D camera for orbbec’s ME review.
