Reference solution & best practice – power delivery

1. Power supply capacity and bandwidth requirements for the USB port

The Gemini 215/Gemini 210 requires that the USB ports on the client’s motherboard support a data bandwidth of USB 3.0 (5Gbps), and the power supply capacity of the USB ports should support 5V/1.5A or above.

2. Solutions for insufficient power supply capacity of the USB port

If the USB 3.0 port on the client’s motherboard can only support a power supply of up to 0.9A, the following solutions is available:If you do not want to lower the laser power level, an additional adapter board needs to be added. An external adapter will provide a 5V/1.5A power supply. The 5V/1.5A power supply will be input to the power input terminal of the USB Power Switch SY6874DBC chip on the adapter board through the DC-IN interface. The VBUS signal of the motherboard’s USB port is only used to control the EN enable pin of the SY6874DBC, and then control the supply of the 5V power to the USB A Female port. Then, through the USB 3.0 Cable, the power will be supplied to the Gemini 215/Gemini 210 to meet its power supply requirements. As shown in Figure 1 below.
